"This is when I was working for Roy Shire, 1978-79. I was the United States Heavyweight champion at the time. The region – which encompassed San Francisco and all or Northern California -- was always one of the hotbeds of professional wrestling. But by the time I got there the group was on its last legs. I had some great bouts with Jimmy Snuka, Ron Starr and others, but the writing was on the wall. Nothing we did seemed to matter by that point. Still, it was a great experience."
