"This shot was taken in 1980, and the moon was out that night! I was eventually letting wrestlers pull my tights off so often, I started getting heat behind the scenes. When I was working in Florida, 1985, Wahoo McDaniel (God rest his soul) went berserk on me, and said not to do it anymore. I stopped… for a little while. It got a good reaction, so I figured it was a gimmick worth hanging on to. It real life, if you were in a real fight, you would grab anything you could hang on to or rip apart -- that was my mentality, to make it believable, at the same time keep it entertaining."
"I had a match from Madison Square Garden against Pedro Morales that was shown on the USA Network in 1982 where Pedro pulled my trunks down as I ran out of the ring. It made it on to ABC’s Bloopers show, and I got a few hundred dollars every time it aired." "The fans popped every time I did this, and it became a signature spot. Now everyone is doing it." |
